The MSc in Sustainability, Culture and Development program provides an advanced understanding of the principal ways that anthropological enquiry and methods can be effectively applied to development activities. The program is designed for those interested in applying the subject-specific skills, methods and knowledge of anthropology to solve global problems and is appropriate for those with a background in anthropology, sociology, human geography, economics, law, development or a related field.The MSc program provides the theoretical background, subject-specific knowledge and practical training to acquire an advanced understanding of development in the current socio-political climate whilst providing the perfect foundation for PhD research and/or a career in applied development anthropology, especially in international development contexts.In addition to promoting subject knowledge, the program aims to develop critical, analytical, interpretative, intergrative and presentation skills and to provide the opportunity, through the dissertation, to pursue original research under expert supervision. An MSc graduate will be well equipped to embark on a career in the development sphere, or to engage in further doctoral research.
